Communication Arts

The word "communication" derives from the Latin word "communicare," which means "to share knowledge or to inform by means of speaking and writing."  While our ability to share knowledge and information has expanded due to many technological advances, the study of Communication Arts is dedicated to the principle that all communication -- no matter how sophisticated its transmission -- must be based in thinking, writing, and oral skills.

The resources found in this library guide apply to the general study of Communication Arts, as well as related disciplines in the field of communications such as Media Studies, Production, Journalism, Public Relations, and Integrated Marketing Communications.
